Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Global Village Platforms, LLC (“we”, “us”), who operate Cache Out at cache-out.com. By using the service you accept them. If you do not, do not use the service.

1. What Cache Out is

Cache Out connects people who want to practice technical interviews with other users who act as interviewers. It provides a shared room with a code editor, a whiteboard, a manual trace table and peer-to-peer voice, and a written evaluation at the end.

We are not an employer, recruiter or career service. We do not select, vet, background-check, train, supervise or endorse interviewers, and we do not guarantee that any session will help you get a job. An evaluation is one person’s opinion.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be 18 or older. You sign in with GitHub; you are responsible for that account and for everything done through it. One person, one account. Tell us at support@cache-out.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

3. Paying to be interviewed

Requesting an interviewer costs $10.00. Payment is taken through Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

When you request a session your card is authorised but not charged. You are charged only when a peer accepts and the session begins. If nobody accepts before the request expires, the authorisation is released and you are not charged at all. If a session is abandoned before it is completed, the payment is refunded in full. Authorisations may take a few days to disappear from your statement; that timing is your bank’s, not ours.

Because the session is another person’s time, a completed session is not refundable merely because you did not enjoy it. If something went genuinely wrong, write to support@cache-out.com and we will look at it.

4. Being paid to interview

Interviewers earn $5.00 for each completed session, paid through Stripe Connect. You must complete Stripe’s onboarding, including identity and bank details, which Stripe collects directly.

You are an independent user, not our employee, contractor or agent. You decide whether and when to accept a session. You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn, and for any reporting your jurisdiction requires. We may hold a payout for a period after a session before releasing it, and may withhold or reverse one where a session is disputed, appears fraudulent, or breaches these terms.

Inviting someone you already know is free. Nobody is charged and nobody is paid for those sessions.

5. How to behave

Treat the other person as you would in a real interview. You must not harass, demean or discriminate against anyone; record audio or video without the other person’s express consent; impersonate anyone; use the room to solicit, advertise or recruit; attempt to obtain payment outside the platform for a session arranged on it; or use the service to take an interview on someone else’s behalf.

Interviewers receive model solutions and interviewer notes that candidates do not see. Those are ours. Do not publish, redistribute or feed them to anyone — or anything — outside the session.

6. Your content and ours

You keep ownership of what you write: your code, diagrams, trace tables and the text of any evaluation you author. You grant us permission to store it and to show it to the other participant in your session, and to you afterwards, so the product can work.

The problems, model solutions, interviewer notes and the rest of the site are ours or our licensors’. You may use them for your own practice and for interviewing on Cache Out, and not otherwise.

7. Other companies’ names

Some problems are named after well-known systems — designing a ticketing site, a live comment feed, a coding-practice site. Those names are used descriptively to identify the kind of system being designed. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the companies named, and all trademarks belong to their owners.

8. Availability

The service is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and some features depend on things outside our control — notably peer-to-peer voice, which can fail on restrictive networks. A session is not refundable solely because voice did not connect; the room works without it.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, or where required by law. You can stop using the service at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost opportunities or employment outcomes, or for what another user says or does. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will say so on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and disputes will be heard there.
